I've seen tree rats shot at 50' +/- and under for a long time. The other day I witnessed one on a branch looking at me with his body lined up so the pellet (bullet) would hit him in the head and travel the length of his body. A thing I've never had the opportunity to witness. The skull or chest hit always leaves two holes.
Well, surprise, surprise, the angle was off a bit and the bullet caught him b/t the eyes, went down the chest wall, tore the ribs up and lodged behind his shoulder blade, busting the blade to pieces and lodged finally under the skin. Total penetration was maybe 2 -1/2" and the distance of flight for the bullet was about 15'. My friend who did the shooting out of the city limits was as amazed as I was.
It's illegal to discharge a firearm yet a guy can legally shoot a pellet gun within the city limits. Go figure that one. Anybody got a good used legal tree rat killer for sale ?? Has to be reliably accurate and preferbly scope mounted.

You're lucky to be able to shoot a pellet gun in the city limits. Around here its illegal as hell.
I didn't understand a word you said, but whatever it was I'm right there with you.

That's one of the reasons I moved from New England in 1971! Here a guy can legally walk down the street with a pistol on his hip w/o a permit. If you want to conceal it, you need a permit.

It's the recoiless version and is very accurate. Shoot me a PM if youre interested.

Biden's most truthful quote ever came during his first press conference, 03/25/21. Drum roll please...... "I don't know, to be clear." and THAT is one promise he's kept!!!

Well, I have egg on my face. Rules have changed in Boise and now it's illegal to shoot anything in the city. Maybe a sling shot is illegal too. Crazy. Even a BB gun is illegal. Never used to be that way but I purposedly don't read the newspapers (all bad news) and only watch the news with Mr. O'Riley and Fox News so my lack of being informed is reasonable.
Thanks to you guys who've sent me pm's with advice and offers to sell an air rifle to me. But now I'll have to cease and decist from reducing the squirrel population and put up with my dog's barking. Neighbors complained to me about it so I was trying to solve the problem without electric shock collars. Barking collars have not operated satisfactorily. And I can't be around all the time to baby sit the dogs.
Thanks again but now I'm in trouble with not being able to get rid of the tree rats. Had 'em reduced in population for quite a while but no longer.

Just because its frowned upon by the law doesn't necessarily mean you have to stop. You just have to be careful not to draw attention to yourself.

I read a book about unorthodox hunting methods, by Mannix if I remember correctly. Very interesting book. He had a chapter on hunting with a blow gun. I made up a very rough mock up and some home made darts, and it worked pretty good. I would bet a commercial one, illegal here in the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts, would kill squirrels just fine. And, not the same worry about where they end up on a miss like with an arrow. I will soon be a citizen of Florida and will be able to buy what I want.

Well, I have to tell ya I have a shark lawyer living 10' from my lot which is 50' wide. Long story not worth going into but we may be in court ITNF. Have a lot of pride....too much sometimes like T.R.
If you know where I can get some poison to put on the dart tips.......the blow gun is a winner. But then the tree rat is likely to die in this POS's backyard. I don't know what to think this world is coming to. Like I see so many cities and states that you can't even send air rifle pellets to.

372.07 -It is unlawful to hunt attorneys within 200 yards of courtrooms, law libraries, health clubs, country clubs or hospitals.
372.08 -If an attorney gains elective office, it is not necessary to have a licence to hunt, trap or possess the same.

Thanks bud for cheering me up. Really made me feel like I wasn't alone. You couldn't have said it better. But I wonder if 'lawyers to be' are aware of the public's opinion of them? Can't imagine anyone knowingly becoming a POS. I mean you've got to be able to count to ten to get into law school...don't you ???
A fellow in a group I used to raft with that I got to know somewhat is my lawyer. My son's used him a few times and knows him from the river trips also. He's a Basque, short, powerfully built, dark complected with eyes of steel. I think he's nicknamed 'The Basque Bulldog'.
At least I got his draft reply letter and he's doing a kick butt job. Although I would never have been so diplomatic.
Again thanks for your 'prose'.

you can use nicotine concentrate for the poison... boil down "Red Man" a couple times and keep the "scum"off of the top... or find some where that still has "Blackleaf 40"...

Really, sounds interesting ?? What I'd really like to do is force him to eat all the lead paint on his house. The place hasn't been painted in the 30 + years I've lived here. His mother was as miserable as he is and he moved in when she went to hell

Within city limits, I can shoot a pellet gun, (because it is not a gun), as long as the pellet stays on my property. The legality of what I shoot follows the local hunting laws. Their are certain tweety birds, that fall under the category of nusiance, so I am always shooting at those, whether I'm lined up at a wrascully Wabbitt or the likes. If the lawyer gives you [bleep], tell him you will kill him if he looks at you sideways.............. He might find something better to spend his time on....... such as chasing ambulances!
If there is any proof of a man in a hunt it is not whether he killed a deer but how he hunted it.

A friend in Dallas used to shoot squirrels that kept coming to his black walnut trees...one day he shot one on an over hanging branch and although dead when it hit the ground old Toy Poodle FeeFee next door grabbed the little treerat and was shaking the hell out of him with the owner screaming at the little hunter to drop it...she never realized that my friend had shot the squirrel... He then went out and bought two HavA Hart box traps and baited them with nuts tied to the pan...he sometimes traps 4 squirrels a day...just brings them inside and a pellet to the head...no scope needed....and they just keep coming...
