I started long and shortened the OAL until it fed into the chamber without any problems. Gave it to a friend for Christmas a few years back. It was simply inferior to the 7x57. I am..........disturbed. You could be leaving something on the table by assuming less jump is always best. The other day with one of my 308's I fired ten shots at 100 yards, and the outside of the whole cluster fits completely under a dime. The bullets were jumping over 0.1" to the lands.

I started out with 140 gr NP's,then went to 175 gr Rem PSP's,then went and tried 175 gr NP Semi-Spitzer's. Had a few 160 gr NP's laying around and just thought "What the hell,I'll try these and see what happens." The 175's shoot better,but I'm a speed freak. But I've killed deer,elk,coyotes,antelope, with the 160 gr NP and it's my favorite in a 7mm caliber.
