I would say he was prominent tho no one I had heard of, but then I don't run in outlaw biker circles. As far as criminal gangs go, the Bandidos gotta be one of the oldest, and as far as I know have also diversified into legal endeavors like strip clubs etc. At the very least they probably are competent criminals.

Came as a surprise then when this guy, a convicted felon with warrants was found to be armed with a pistol and spare mags as well as in possession of controlled substances.

Back in the 70's we had some Bandidos running around up here.

I guess they made a few enemies as one night there were 2 or 3 of them sitting at a stop light when a lifted K5 Blazer ran them over. Made quite a mess.

After a couple more incidents they disappeared and if they are around here anymore they don't wear their colors in public.

Had the president of the South Texas Chapter give me his card and tell me to let him know if I ever needed anything after I stopped to help him and his compadre out on the side of I35 south of San Marcos in the mid 1980's.

Seemed a decent enough fellow. Interesting conversation that lead to the card.

I know a few, tho not Bandito's. Mostly, they just want to be left alone...like most of us. Their choice of employment is quite different than mine though.

A Bandit with crank and a gun? It came as a surprise to who?

It's always shocking when low life sacks of schit turn out to be armed and carrying narcotics and have outstanding warrants.

I guess his point was that one would expect these guys to have a little more savvy then to be running around with weapons and drugs when they have an existing warrant, alluding that they have some sort of savant status for crime based on their longevity.

Why I don't know.

If they were savvy at all, they wouldn't have warrants.

When I was a Ladd growing up in Chicago I knew quite a few charaters I still know a few and interact at times
But at 50 I know to just keep my distance and I am just good with that

I like the guys with murder warrants that we'd end up getting PC for equipment violations on cars.

Or the ones that chunk a food wrapper out the window and they have 3 states looking for them, as well as drugs, guns, and money in possession.

Mensa candidates for sure.

Got no illusions about outlaw bikers one way or another. They were heroes when we were teenagers in the "Easy Riders" era and my cousin who is more like my brother was a patch-wearing biker years ago.

Then there was that whole decade all I did was motorcycles, no car, no furniture in my apts etc... rubbed shouilders with a few here and there.

The Bandidos are pretty much a part of the scene here in the West Side of San Antonio and I have had several students either kids of or nephews of etc etc...

Like folks said, mostly you don't screw with them, they don't screw with you. Some of them were even good parents who I saw at school quite a lot. But overall, yer prob'ly better off if they don't know you exist at all...

...unless maybe you taught their kid and did them right ...

...but overall, on balance, having encountered as many as I have I'd still pass on the acquaintance thing.

So ya, it surprises me a little that a "senior" outlaw biker would be caught so obviously in violation, but then I ain't a Cop.

So I posted it here just fer conversation, folks are free to do the now-usual Campfire thing I guess

We got 150 kilos out from under a guys back seat one day after he was speeding, didn't have a license and told us he was from Havana, Puerto Rico.

We used to have 2 biker gangs in Casper Wy in the 70's. They had a shoot out in North Casper. That was the end of tolerance for city officials. They had lots of drug arrests and were always fighting each other and anyone else they could beat up. Being a small town I knew several of them. Some were tough and most just wanted to be. The state got in on it and kicked them out of Wyoming. Escorted them to the State line and sent them on their way. A few of them were shot, out in the big gang world and it pretty much disbanded the groups. We have a few who wear colors around now but not a big group. Now all the drug dealers are very low key. Same here ,as most of them get caught with traffic violations, with drugs.
