Hey folks looks like we might have a latent troll on board, just slow at getting ramped up. Might not be twelve but 15 comes to mind.
so Gene tell us about your self, cop, sniper, bicycle seat sniffer. I read your Bio, looks impressive if you are who you say you are then you certainly must understand folks desire not to get hit by webb theives or you are one which is it?
Troll or good guy? I was Bullwnkl when you were dropping soft gooie loads in diapers. Why not use my Handle I am proud of it. if you or any one else wants to find out who I really am just send me a PM, I will then decide if I want you to get to know me.

Aw, he's a deputy sheriff and I'm sure he's used to being able to ID just about anyone he wants. So it's driving him absolutely nuts that he can't look up anything on Barak because he doesn't even know what state he lives in.

Now as for me, there are a number of people here around the 'fire who I am very fond of, and I don't know what their real names are. What difference does it make? A person is who he is, no matter what his name is.

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.

Some people (one in particular) need to get a life...

I've enjoyed my time here, but I'm trying to kick the computer habit, and I find I run my mouth too much on these threads.

Not a person here I wouldn't like to hunt with. Some I probably wouldn't want to share a tent with and a lot I wouldn't loan money to...especially the lawyers.

I'll still be monitering, but plan to cut my posting WAY down.

Adios, and may the trail be level and straight.

And I won't let the screendooor hit me on the way out.

Gene,i've posted before my Handle story:i'm Dave and was called an "Average shooter"proceded to whup the snot out of this practical tactical ninjafied heartbreaker lifetaker....hey! he was in Law enforcement too and his $4000.00 handgun. As far as your attitude to .280 barak and i reckon by extension barak's womn, never met .280 don't know his real name and you'll have to search long to find this Bama man to say anything bad about him we disagree...but we agree to disagree.Barak? ok maybe he's Liberal...is that bad? should "we" as Redneck right wingers refuse to acknowledge other points of view? i don't even if they are wrong. As to Penny(Said in my best Southern Ainglish)I do not cotton to so called Men who wish to argue with Ladies it's simply not proper, not proper at all.i have found nothing but polite discourse here at the fire,if that bothers you Sir please do not tarry.

Gene,
If you are a police officer, then you know that there are a 1000 ways to screw someone over without being directly connected to the specific action and make someones life hell. You should also know that there are some seriously sick minded sociopaths floating around who don't need any reason other than they wanted to screw you over to mess up your life for the fun of it. Yes the right person with the right knowledge can find out just about anything he wants about you on the internet; even if you try to hide your personal information on a forum like this one that allows "handles". Why should anyone make it easy for the evil people of this world.

You are a troll and or a moron of the first order. Please leave. Yes that is a derogatory acccusation by some anonymous person hiding behind a keyboard. Live with it.[color:"red"] [/color]

You've apparently forgotten your studies in high school. I haven't having to deal with them on a daily basis.

Maybe you should review your high school texts?

We didn't study the constitution in high school. At least I didn't.

On the subject of knowing people's real identities on here,I thought I'd tell a story that hasn't been told here yet, which should.

A past regular poster here (who is now an occasional poster),got on the wrong side of some of some past regulars.

Somehow they found out his name and address-how,I don't exactly recall,it may have been through a classifieds transaction or some such thing. They signed him up for some "swingers" type stuff on the internet, then printed the info out that showed that he was a part of such activity. They then mailed said info to his wife's boss.

If THAT doesn't get the point across that it isn't real bright to give out your personal info willy nilly on here, then I don't know what does. These little internet headbutting contests can go one step too far when [bleep] like that starts happening.

I'm in no way a comnputer geek type dude, so when I got on the 'net with the help of my buddy, he said "Well, we don't even have to search for a nickname for you!"
My friend has called me Catnthehat since he has known me, which is quite some time, way before the movie!
I never gave it much thought, but use my given name on some of the competition boards that I am a member of.

Where do I know that name from?It sounds familiar and I don't recall it fondly.

FYI,I'm not being sarcastic.

I think he used to post here. Always going off about illegals or the minutemen or something. Not a whole lot about shooting IIRC -- I neve had a problem with the guy - just was my impression of him. If we are talking bout the same guy.

I was gonna say this Gene has turned more DFC-ish lately.

Easy there Mike, I know where you live, well kinda, and if gas wasn't so expensive, I'd drive down there and uh buy you a beer or something.

I ain't hard to find, Fairbanks is a small enough burg, ain't too many hairdresser/philosopher/ex guides around named Randy that I'm aware of.

If I disagree with you, you're liable to know it, if I feel like you treat me with disrespect your liable to get that hint fairly quickly too.

If you want to dot my eyes or harass me, you missed being first in line along time ago.

If you want to do me or mine harm, bring a lunch.

Dieing can't be that hard, lot's of folks have done it before me.

It's this living thing that's tricky.

Lot's of good info and good folks here, a few that are having a bad day occassionally, some that seem to have a lifetime of bad days.

Some like to tease, others like to get onery, to me it's still worth it for the camaraderie and the knowledge I glean from this place. YMMV

Now I *think* I remember where Tibbe's name seems SO familiar.

I was doing a search recently for a Beeman Kodiak pellet rifle.I ran across an add on Graybeard Outdoors selling one,and Tibbe's name was attached to it.

It was attached to it because Graybeard was running it for Tibbe's daughter, who was selling all his crap because Tibbe had died.

Now I can't say with 100% certainty that it's Tibbe that I'm remembering, but I tried to go back and search and they're doing work on the site so I couldn't check. But I'd bet 10 to 1 I'm correct in my memory,as it was only a week ago.Plus,I'd seen a posting for his death on another board.

If he did die,it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

OMG, less than two years and barely eighty posts and I've made "Me Too Dog" status. You make me blush.

I think it would be a stretch to think of me as piling on, and as far as defending Barak...I think he's well equiped to defend himself. I don't know the man but I can see he is well educated (and I like the Barak's avatars) and spoken and that he contributes a great deal to the campfire, as do you, Houndgirl.

I try to follow the example that Mr. Coleman has set. He rarely if ever shows any animosity towards anyone. I have a ways to go but I keep trying.

Sorry I embarrassed you and I like your avatar too.

I posted my name "Gene Langston" or my birth certificiate name of "William Eugene Langston" and invited people to google my name. (Under Gene.) I was advised by one of the regulars here by IM I'd made a mistake. He said someone might find my remarks offensive and call my boss, Sheriff Scott Berry, 706-769-3945 to complain.

As if I would say anything to you I wouldn't say to him. I think it is the ultimate mark of cowardice to hide behind a shield of annonymity, but I see why some people do. If it got back to their peers how they felt about certain issues, they'd probably be in for trouble.

Im trying not to over-think or over analyze you Gene. Im pretty sure I have met many like you over the last 12 years. Any time I have offered to make nice with you, you have totally ignored me. You constantly, and not just with me, go straight after challenging people's manhood. Thats a clear sign you think you have to constantly prove yours. I know guys that think like that. Silly IMO. Im very comfy with my manhood. Calling me "one of those pu$$ies" is not fighting words to me...Im above that...you're not. Your childish taunts of that nature towards others has rarely been taken as a challenge by the intelligent people here, yet you continue. Gene, your problem is like you said above. You wouldn't say anything here that you wouldn't say to your boss. Its tough for me to believe that he'd let you run around his county calling people "one of those pu$$ies" because you disagreed with them on a debatable point. Actually, the police department I worked for wouldn't tolerate me talking like that to anyone, included a perp. It's obvious you work in an atmosphere that lets you constantly challenge people's manhood, call names when you disagree, and generally feel the need to make sure you have the most testosterone in the room, and God only knows what else your boss would tolerate professionally from you. Pathetic really, at your stated age of 62 IIRC, that you're still thinking you have to prove you're a tough guy, manly man, and evidence IMO, that you're of a lower, average, but lower average intelligence. You respond to debate by calling people cowards, pu$$ies, saying they wear maxie pads...and all manner of school boy tactics. If I were in a public place where I work, and I called people out like that for disagreeing, Id be fired, immediately! I have said many things on here that some disagree with. I have said only couple of things I wanted to take back...and to the couple of people I directed them at I went to them personally and apoligized and tried to learn from my mistakes. Their response, to a man, "Dont sweat it, aint nothing personal here." That was it.

I see you as an old man, used to your absolute power over the simple country folks you police, and you grinding your teeth everytime somebody disagrees with you here because you don't have to tolerate that on the street where you work, and wanting our names so you can deal with us personally. I made the peace offer, it still stands, but if you wont have a beer or cup of coffee with me in person, then you damn-sure don't need my name!

By the way, I don't know other places you post, but I have never seen a forum where giving ones real name was the norm. And twice you've threatened to leave, not just this last time, but about 2 months back as well, when everybody disagreed with you...yet you're still here.

WOW--What happened here folks. I leave yesterday afternoon to take my old man to see the lowly Nats get trounced by the Phillies and came home to a hot one. I have received private mailings taking me up on offers of gift certificates I had and could not use, I have answered each and every PM I have received, I have given legal advice when asked by PM and I have PM'd those I would like to say something to or to apologize when I lost some of my family taught civility. Each time I have mailed something to a member I have enclosed my card with a note for good wishes. There isn't anyone on this forum who I would refuse assistance to if they asked for it. Near 97% I would love to sit with at a dinner table , even in my home.I have posted my real name a couple of times ,so anyone could take that and look in Martindale Hubble or the net and get my complete bio.I do not care.As to the discourse, Yeah, I disagree with many but I respect the discourse and I often learn. Not only would Barak and Penyy be welcome in my home, I'd love it if he could come to work with me for a few days ( kind of like show-and -tell) I disagree with many of his positions but in my Family/criminal law practice , 50 % of the folks disagree with me each and every day. 280-I wish you'd pay me a visit so you wouldn't have to wait till November to kill a deer. The list goes on and on as to the really neat folks Ive associated with as you all kindly helped through the early(still early) stages of my membership. Hell--Coss and I got off to a bad start but I wouldn't hesitate for one minute having that man defend me if I was in a jam.Really the list goes on and on and I'm entering the realm of babble--Sorry. Gene-that invite for a meal and/or hunting stands for you anytime as well. If these folks wish for some semblance of privacy ( for whatever reason) just respect it. It is their right.I hope you don't leave as you do offer food for thought in the threads you post. Just let the others post their thoughts in their way of privacy if that's what they choose to do. I'm plenty cool with that.
