Gene Gene Gene, my friend I am almost as far west as one can get in these here continental United States. I have a great sence of humor , just ask me. Once again the regulars did not get your drift about shooting elk, they are big and are big targets, I think that is where you left it off. Nothing was said about how hard they can be to find some folks just read that into your post. No way is an elk as easy to hunt as shooting a bovine, but the target is about the same size when presented. As to packing one out, thats what young guys are for. It's darn tough work no matter how you cut it. I don't know too much about Colorado elk but around here you earn every steak and burger from the elk we have. I am sure thats the same in the rockies except our Roosevelt elk tend to be a bit larger. Old guys like us need to just find ways of enjoying the hunt then staying out of the way when the real work begins. Most of my elk hunting any more is done with a camera.

Bullwnkl.

Bulwinkl, I know all that. I assumed folks knew I knew that, which is common sense and anyone over 13 years old knows how difficult elk are to locate and pack out. A frined of mine killed one with a hickory bow he made himself, but it was rough hunting. I figured you guys had more of a sense of humor and could see through that, but apparently they have to have things explained to them.

I hate to have to insert a smiley face every damn time I write something, but some folks just don't get it. Some take things way too seriously. Bart, for example.

I've got a daughter in Seattle. She's a teacher. I know what the west coast is like and what elk look like, and have no intention of hunting them.

I've got friends in Texas, many friends....the magazine I edited was based in Texas. They had several hundred acres of leased land near the Mexican border and used to ask me to come kill off some of those big Texas deer.

Not this boy. I've killed about everything I want to kill, I believe.

And Bart....get a sense of humor, pal. Loosen up your panyhose.

Warning Huh?
How about this Gene...GFY....Get it?
I've said this before here and I really meant it...
You are nothing more than a broken down old man that is aching for attention...NO???
You think that your attention is something important...NOT!!!!
I'm tired of you pissinfg all over this fire...You are stinking it up!!!
Take your warning and shove it right up your a$$!!!
Bart

Shove what up WHOSE ass? Yep, you're thinking in terms of sex. Sad, really. Sublimating, I think it's called. A more careful reader would note that I wasn't warning YOU, I was taking this as a warning of your apparent attraction to me.

Where have all the cowboys gone?

I crave attention? I get more attention than I want. All my life I've tried to avoid attention. So, you guys who think I need attention, do me a favor and ignore me.

GFY...impossible. And let's leave sex out of this conversation. I already suspect you, don't make it worse.

I notice since I posted the handsome picture of myself, you've been frantically posting in large numbers to get my attention.

Sorry, Bart. I'm spoken for. Give up the dream.

Gene are you a ringnocker or truly educated? Ya know, some of the posts I have read by you have been pretty good, but your getting out of hand, the only reason I ask is most ringnockers respond in the same way you do. Rub your tab you'll feel better. Les

Nope, not a ringnocker. I have a MFA. But that was long after Viet Nam...I was an offizer (but not a gentleman) by virtue of my hard work and native intelligence.

I'm just having fun at Bart's expense. I probably owe him an apology, but he started it. OK...what the heck, guy, a big, warm wet one on Bart and an apology to any who I offended.

I'm combative, as you know. I'm also pretty funny, if you get in to it.

But, sometimes I'm serious. But, I'll lay off Bart, and the rest of you if you lay off me.

Deal?

No, I don't imply or infer you're a [bleep]. Sorry, Bart, I was just having fun pissing you off.

Since my last post on this thread I've loaded eight boxes of quality Elk medicine and have another hundred pieces of brass being cleaned.
Thought I might get something done while Gene took advantage of the openings offered to get right with the board, but that seems unlikely to happen now. I guess this is how he entertains himself.
Damn shame, but it was his choice.

Well, if I'm not right with the board, I guess I'll have to settle with being right with myself and God. Sorry to disappoint but at least you got some clean brass out of the deal.

That works pretty good too.....just go revisit some of T-lees old jokes that will revive your sence of humor...or confirm that you have none.
