Yup, I suggested this dude was a fake with my very first post to him. He just ain't right in the head. He's either fake or totally doesn't belong in law enforcement. Nearly every post is over the top.

I'm so confused?????? words that don't mean anything, posters with "handles" GIVING THEIR REAL NAMES!!!!! posters who say "I'm leaving" then keep on posting?? and who the hell is Ron Mexico??????
BTY my grandpa gave me my handle when I was so young I didn't understand words and it was really said like this �crevisses so there. I post it in American because that is what I are.

After reading ALL of this & not commenting til now, I have come to a few conclusions.....(my opinions only)

First,
with the newby suggesting that everyone here lose their handle.....Ain't gonna happen. I value my privacy & don't need a thief, criminal, anti-gun/hunter knowing things about me that would give them ammo to do harm.

Second,
As ex-LEO myself, it appears that the only way Gene can have time enough to post all the posts he does in various forums is to cut into taxpaer money....by doing a LOT of it at work.
I would like to see the Sheriff & a couple of County Commisioners post their approval of this use of "County time" on here.

Third,
Gene, buddy, you are a troll. You get a "high" from what people say to your posts. THAT is why you CAN'T leave our website just yet.
You also must suffer severly from "Little Man's Syndrome", as you seem to really take pleasure in insulting others & calling names.....It frankly isn't funny, nor entertaining to members here to have a green-pea come out of the "woodworks" & start an inflammatory thread that is continually fueled by your insulting & profane remarks. (BTW- you, as a member here have the right to post pretty much as you please, as do the other members here, so, why won't you try & get along with the other kids here & play nice? You may actually learn something useful in the hunting, fishing, shooting world of experience here at the Campfire.....UNLESS you already know all there is to know, & are just here to belittle people & feed your own ego by such behavior.....)

Gene, We used to have a saying in Law Enforcement.....80% of the cops gave the other 20% of us a bad name. THAT holds true here.

Why don't you go build your own website, dedicated of course to your favorite subject.....(YOU), and get the fine folks of you county to pay for it, & pay your salary to maintain it & belittle your members?

BTW, I own my own business, so any time I spend here comes ftom my own pocket. I just thought my budget could afford ONE unbiassed post in regards to what I have read here.

I don't pay much attention to post counts, but I just figured that I average around 80 posts per month (sheesh, JOG, shaddup already). Gene averages around 500...

It begins to appear either this is the real Gene L. or somebody has cleverly hijacked his identity and is using it to troll with. If this guy is real it is extremely scary. I just don't understand how somebody with his attitude could even begin to work in law enforcement. He's gotta be some elected official's brother-in-law to keep an le job.

To speak to the post itself, who cares? I have many reasons for using a handle, most of which have already been related by other poster. Personally, I just don't care if some psycho undersheriff who thought Deliverence was a training film, thinks I'm a coward or not. It just doesn't impact my day.

769 posts in a couple of months...almost all of them name-calling or vile in some other manner. I told this dude he should be more gentlemanly about a month ago. The Campfire is a relatively mannerly and nice site. We simply don't need folks like this here.

I enjoy everyone's handles. It makes them unique and says something about who they are. I'd much rather read messages from "Crawfish" and "Elf" and "Muleskinner" and "BigBuck" than from Tom, Dick, and Harry. It gives an insight into the person that I find interesting. That word even sounds nasty - beyond obese with mebbe a built-in odor factor and an ever-present grease stain on my chin. Yuck.

Hey--I'm in no position to judge others for corpulence. And I have no idea how I look in a Speedo.

Personally I prefer "fluffy" to the adj. corpulant or fat. JMO.

I prefer "Shorter than my skin" or "gravity enhanced" myself. As to how I look in a speedo - think pear with a rubber band round the bottom.

Penny, I know it is good to forgive and your post once again shows what a good heart you have, but I'm going to wait and see. I probably don't have to tell you this, but people who try so very hard to make people dislike them often have an extra helping of self-hatred and their approach toward people is geared to make those people reinforce that self image. Making nicey-nicey is one way to get folks to let down their guard, making it easier to strike a second time. "Ha, look how I suckered you in, you're so easy to manipulate." Maybe yes, maybe no, but I'm going to operate on the principle of fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice...

I did learn quite a bit about Gene last night - once Executive Editor of "Primitive Archer" and now Editor Emeritus. If you followed the links in my last post his resume contains teaching positions at the college level and also apparently he has authored several works of fiction, but I couldn't find those titles.

It really does strike me as incongruent how an educated person can be such a [bleep] towards so many people.

Oh well, I come here to learn about shooting, not to fight and argue, so I guess henceforth our new poster Gene is a non-topic for me.
