I like to rack them by serial. You will learn a lot about the changes made over the years doing it that way. Also, what was in production at the time.

You can still raise the rack base and put another row in front at the floor level.

Rick, if i have to ill build some freestanding racks for the floor room for another 350 or so right now theres a little over 200 spaces along the wall . gonna bring in some of my cabinets also for the back wall. probably arange by serial at some point problem is leaving empty slots for future rifles. Hey Don
A Place called Gun-Racks has Rotor Racks Made Out Of Wood, Can Get 16,18 or 24 Position, they turn Like a Lazy Susan. Great for Floor Racks. If Ya Need the Site or Number P.M. I 'll Get it To Ya.

Loggah:Great project and really enjoyed your detailed progress photos. Save some of that floor space for a small work bench/cabinet combination that you can service those rifles on. Also , of course, a good reclining chair for settin' back and enjoying.

I enjoy sticking another in the rack and moving the others down a slot. Gives me a reason to pick them up and look them over. The older I get the more I find in the racks that I can't remember where it came from...kind a like Christmas and a new toy.

You're doing good. I wish my vault was a little wider so I could put an A-frame on the floor on wheels. I have my reloading bench in there, also. I think it's about to be evicted.

Just got done dragging a bunch more guns into the vault. There may be a few stragglers hiding in the house somewhere, but I will find them sooner or later. Total count so far is 228, and 89 are Savages. Probably 95 - 100 are Winchesters.

I will probably be adding some horizontal racks on the upper walls to hold all the carbines. That will make more space below.

The chimney is underway, and the carpet should be coming soon. I am about to start on all the bookshelves, display shelves, and work benches. Still have two gun cabinets to move after the carpet is in.

I guess the Savages must be going up in value. Note the rainbow that landed on my vault the other day. Must be a pot of gold there somewhere.

Don, I wish I knew about this when you started it, I would have been able to get you about 50 Army Arms room racks for free. A buddies unit was deactivated and they sent out 500 arms room racks to get cut up, he asked if I had wanted them. I passed on it, Each rack held 10 rifles. Les
