The one thing we all agree on here at the "Fire is that Freedom Of Speech is a FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT for those who live free! Having moderators on here would negate that right, regardless if we live in Canada, where a number of us do, the USA, where the "Fire is based and most members live, or the members who live overseas.

Most folks keep it reasonable and respectful, sometimes there will be a blow up but things get sorted out amongst the membership, much like real-life. And trolls get their arses handed to them quickly.

I see no need for moderators. The issues that arise invariably get resolved in one fashion or another without the need of playground monitors.

Moderators= censorship. In in other forums that have moderators they enforce not just some basic rules, but judge posts by their own criteria. I can handle someone calling my a plucking azzhole ( maybe because is might be somewhat true) but not telling that person that he can't call me a plucking azzhole, that's just plucked up.

I do not think any moderation is needed except what is provided by the ignore mode. This site is one of the only sites where one can sound off about pretty much anything, and get the appropriate responses. If someone is hounding you, then either use the ignore function, or leave.

When someone is acting beyond the pale, e.g., Maser, Lee24 et al, the membership has an excellent record of policing that type of individual. Most here have a good record of keeping it civil, and where there are a few that do not, ignore is useful.
