Baiting appears to be the preferred method for harvesting bear at least where I have tried it. They like water from what I understand. I would still hunt the area looking for food sources unless you can find a friend with dogs? Try a search on how to skin a bear for the hide. I would try to locate a taxidermist first just in case you do connect on a bear you want to have rugged.
