Stopping a black bear with your voice may or may not work but it all depends on the individual bear, but most bears reaction to strange noises or things out of place is to get the hell out of dodge.
I think you have your work cut out ahead of you. Big bears are few and far between and from the sounds of the terrain you are looking to hunt it will be hard earned. Food sources are key, consider doing a honey burn if legal where you live.
