Ken nice work! That buck looks like tender vittles!
6.5: That particular cut is surrounded by miles....and miles....and miles of heavy hard/soft wood forest,mountains to swamps,clear cuts, and logged areas of all ages and sizes. There are open areas that can offer some long shots but mostly about 300 max.
That buck came off a runway used by does. 2 weeks ago I doubt I'd have caught him there but with the does coming into heat I suspect he was checking for something in estrus. Or possible a hot doe went through there earlier.
Important thing is he was on the move. Which is what helps.
