I can't see front sights any more (unless the barrel is 48" long....), so ALL my rifles have scopes--a necessary evil in my opinion, like aging.

Prefer short, wide field fixed-power scopes, so most of mine for hunting big stuff have "shotgun scopes:" Burris 1.5X, Weaver K1.5X, Redfield 2 3/4X, Weaver V3.

The .22s have higher power scopes for smaller targets: Nikon 4X and 2x7X. But I'm tempted to put compact, low-power scopes on them, too since they work so well on the centerfires.
