Yeah, I bought my first Remington 700 in 1974, a brand-new ADL .270, for $179 at a hardware store in Wolf Point. Which at the time was just about half a month's take-home pay for the job I had at the time. I bought my first 700 new at Gibson's in Bozeman for around the same money about the same year. I loaded up some Hornady 165 grain bullets and put a Bushnell 4X scope on it and went hunting. I shot a group with it when I was younger and didn't know better, but the group was as good or better than the one they had attached to a $600.00 Steyr they had in the Powderhorn. I shot the biggest elk I have ever seen with that rifle...
