Based on your description in your OP, I'd not overlook the Rem. Sporter.

Also, DO NOT go off the McMillan forearm width spec (website) of the Tactical Hunter (1.720″) - tis much wider than that.
I've told them about that typo no less than 5 times over the last 6 months and they still haven't changed it.
