All of you make strong cases for an updated Model 99. My dream gun would be offered in 3 calibers. short action, 22-250,250 savage,284 for heavier game. Brass rotor, 20" barrel, walnut stock w/cheek piece, snobele fore-end, take-down. stainless steel fluted barrel,stainless receiver, fiddle back walnut stocks.I know the 3 calibers were all available at 1 time but not pre-1960 quality.Personal opinion,99 needs to be short action! With that said though for heavy duty action 35 Whelen.Dream on!!
