JohnMoses,

For me, it's several 'perfect' rifles, for the type of whitetail hunting I intend to do-

For open hay fields, where ranges are likely to be long, it's my Weatherby MkV Fibermark, .257 Wby, with 100 gr. Barnes TSX bullets, Talley LW mounts, a Leupold VX-L 3.5-10 x 50 scope for low-light shooting.

For stand hunting, my Ruger #1a, .257 Roberts, 100 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip bullet, Ruger rings and 3-9 Burris scope

For all-around use, close to far, any hunt method, the choice is:
Custom .280, either Nosler AB or Barnes TSX 140 gr. bullets, transition-period M70 action, 22" #2 Pac-Nor bbl, Bansner stock, bedded and free-floated, with Talley LW mounts and Leupold VX3 3.5-8 x 40 CDS scope. Trigger is stock, smoothed-up M70 Win.

I'd rather be a free man in my grave, than living as a puppet or a slave....
