Best rifle is one you can shoot. IMO, 30-06 is hard to beat unless you anticipate or are scared of recoil. I enjoy most calibers people have mentioned, .243 to .30 cals. Right now I'm really having fun with the .257 Weatherby and .250 savage. The .250 is far less expensive to shoot
