The Chipmunk is probably the best option, but I'd gladly donate my Stevens 1915 Favorite to the cause, if you think the size/function would be satisfactory. It shoots well but needs a little work; I need to get it fixed anyway.


I was disappointed in the Chipmunk I bought for April in the early 'nineties. I wanted her to learn to shoot with iron sights, but the blade was too short to allow a proper zero so I had to scope it. Since it was designed as a beginner rifle, I thought the sights being unusable was especially unforgivable.

The Favorite I bought for my son in the 'seventies was dead on and he learned to shoot it pretty good.

Making the Quemado gathering is still a possibility, but not a certainty.
