At one time, I thought I needed a headlamp that lit up half countryside but after trying 4 or 5 different headlamps, I've found that I'm quite happy with the performance of headlamps with 75 to 90 lumens or even a bit less. They work well at high elevations in the mountains of CO and on the flat sandy trails in OK. I just want to get to where I'm going without announcing my arrival to half the world.
