As has been said Remington no longer makes any kind of .350....
If your friend is used to the light well balanced Model 600/660 that was made back in the 1960s and early 70s he would not be happy with the 673...it was 22" and bulky as a full size rifle. I see them all the time in the $700 range.
Excellent condition 600/660s can be had on GunBroker for $900-1200. There are also two offerings from the Custom Shop that come up quite often, the 7KS with a composite stock from McMillian or the full stock that was a laminated 20". I have seen two full stocks recently for in the 1350-1500 range...I think there is one on GB now.
I have both the 600 and 7KS and they are my favorite hunting rifles...
Hope your friend finds a replacement he is happy with.
