Thanks for all the responses. I'll chat with him and see what he decides. I mentioned the 673 to him, as I've seen one at a local shop not long ago. He isn't too keen on them because as has been mentioned, it isn't as sleek and nimble as a 600/660 or Model 7.

My friend (actually a close friend of my departed grandfather) often used his .350 on big bears and moose in Alaska and almost all the larger NA game animals, or even mulies in heavy timber country. Always with hand-loaded Nosler Partitions (250 grain, i think).

I wonder why this cartridge never really caught on? It seems really quite solid to me. I recall reading about one professional hunter/writer who favored the .350 Remington in a carbine for African dangerous game... buffalo, hippo, lions and such. I can't recall his name... anyway...
