I'm starting to think the same way Guy.After all my 50+ years of hunting,I just started using the 30-06 a couple of years ago.I handload for all my rifles and test them over a chronograph too, instead of relying what a book said it's doing.I have found the 30-06 to be really close in ballistics and also performance on game,to the 7mag and the 300WSM,that I also have a great fondness for.The confidence it has given me makes me believe I have way more rifles than I will ever use for hunting myself.

As Bob Hagel would say"You should not use a rifle that will kill an animal when everything goes right; you should use one that will do the job when everything goes wrong."Good words of wisdom...............
