I'm starting to think the same way Guy.After all my 50+ years of hunting,I just started using the 30-06 a couple of years ago.I handload for all my rifles and test them over a chronograph too,instead of relying what a book said it's doing.I have found the 30-06 to be really close in ballistics and also performance on game,to the 7mag and the 300WSM,that I also have a great fondness for.The confidence it has given me makes me believe I have way more rifles than I will ever use for hunting myself.
Apparently finding the right wrapper for the cartridge in question seems to be an issue with some campfire posters.
I love 5 cartridges 270 weatherby, 7mm Weatherby, 7mm Rem mag, 30-06 and for some pyschotic reason a 300 weatherby mag. At the current moment I have 4 of them in my possession.
