I'm only 66 and the first in my family lineage to own a .30-06. That said, I expect Granddad and Dad would both have settled on a .30-06. Uncle chose a .270 Win.

Me, I'm still making up my mind but have given three .30-06 rifles away as wedding presents to sons-in-law. Haven't come around to getting rid of everything else and probably (hopefully!) won't want or need to for another decade or more. When I do I only have three .30-06 rifles for daughters or grandkids. Might have to purchase more!
