If one has read a lot of O'Connor's writings, they will know just how much he used the 30-06. Even though he is most often associated with the 270, Jack used a lot of other cartridges as well. The '06 was his wife's "heavy" rifle, the one she used on elephant, tiger, and lions. I'd say it worked pretty good too. I like rifles, and have enough to go around, so to speak, but for all practical purposes, one good one is really you need.
