I live about 35 miles east of Tucson so we go there regularly for shopping and such. Politically Tucson and Pima County is one of the most liberal areas in the state. The other is Flagstaff. Both are largely influenced by the University system. Tucson and Pima County consider themselves a sanctuary city (county) for illegals. Traffic is a problem due to efforts to be bicycle friendly and pedestrian friendly. This disrupts the flow of traffic and in a confrontation between a bicycle or pedestrian and a car, the car always wins.

Tucson has a very friendly climate. The desert around Tucson is conducive to hunting with an abundance of wildlife compared to some areas in Arizona. Mount Lemmon is just outside Tucson and has snow in the winter. Even has a ski lodge and a little community called Winterhaven. The mountains and parks have hiking trails and outdoor activities are very popular.

There is a lot of gang and drug related crime in certain areas of Tucson. Stay out of those areas if possible but if you need your radiator fixed or some upholstery work or muffler work, go during the daytime and leave before it gets dark.

There are several casinos in the Tucson area. The Indians lost a few battles along the way but they are winning the war as the white man is anxious to hand over his cash. They also have some top name entertainers if one is into concerts and such. Tobacco is best purchased on the reservation to avoid taxes.

Tucson reminds me of a horse I once had. He was a pretty nice horse except for a couple of things. He was a little hard to catch and not much fun once you got him caught!
