I bought a very nice used one several months ago and just got around to shooting and it is a tack driver. If I remember correctly, this was one from the 90s or late 80s. I really wanted to like it, but was worried about things I had read about accuracy - I was thrilled when I shot it. I think that you will have to spend a fair amount more money to find a rimfire that is built as well - they are solid, but not at all clunky. But you can probably spend a lot less to get something that shoots as well. I have heard of spotty accuracy, but my limited experience of one rifle has not confirmed that. I was shooting a Browning T-bolt 17 HMR at the range the same day and was wishing it was a 77/17

I messed around trying to make a Leupold 2-7x28 rimfire work on the 77/22, but it's just too small. I pulled an old vari-x II 3-9x40 off my 25-06 and it is perfect. Shipped it off to Leupold to have the parallax adjusted
