Probably true. Or just don't care.

Many ranchers I know hate 'em for tearing up the land, but don't really do anything about it.

If there was a poison to put out and stop it, they probably would though.

This is right on point.

Many land owners would rather put up with the nuisance part of having hogs around than having the nuisance of opening up your land to everyone and their brother-in-law who feel that they "deserve" to hunt the hogs for free. Many landowners with hogs allow hunting for free, but its granted to people that the landowner knows and trusts. That is a sad scenario for hunters in general that is often hunter created, but it is a realistic situation for many land owners who get burned by opening up their land to just anyone.
