You clearly didn't see Flight of the Intruder.
Such a great book, such an awful movie (other than the flying scenes).
They went to great lengths to get that right and were filing it when I got to NAS Whidbey with a bunch of Intruders painted in VN era paint schemes and TRAM turrets removed and just paired with a crappy script.
