My wife shoots a 7mm-08 savage and I have a Ruger Frontier that my kids use. To simplify the ammo situation both rifles shoot the same load so I don't have to worry about mix-ups. Both rifles shoot a 140 accubond over a healthy charge of Varget around an inch. They have killed deer, elk and antelope just fine with that combo.

I did some shooting last year with the 120 BT out of the Ruger Frontier and was super impressed. Honest 3/8" groups and terminal performance was great on deer and antelope. If elk were never on the menu I doubt I would ever shoot anything other than the 120s within conventional hunting ranges. I am sure they will kill elk fine but I have a lot of confidence in the 140 accubond.
