I took my .300 Wby to Africa on my first safari, and it performed perfectly on 2 Gemsbok, a greater Kudu, a Hartmann's Mountain Zebra, and Warthog.
On several subsequent safaris, I have used a 7x57, a .30-06, my Mathews bow, and a .375 Ruger, all with equally perfect results.
Next trip over will be to finish off my 'Tiny Ten' slam, using either a .223 or a .22 Hornet.

I, too, have a 'last rifle I will ever part with', but the .300 wasn't one of them!
