That's been happening for decades, especially in places like Chitcago, Detroit, Baltimore, San Francisco, Atlanta, etc., and all of Florida!
Fortunately, a lot of that happens in places that are already in the blue column.
Whoever they pick will have to sidle back towards the center after the nomination. Right now, it's mostly about raising money, just as with the impeachment blather.
