that is, humans being humans just are Not designed, wired, and built to be good socialists. so failure is always in the wings.

and libertarians are far more free market than a lot of other folks out there. just sayin'

Democratic Socialism worked the best in countries when it is balanced with Capitalism. Private ownership and/or government ownership. We have a lot of that in this country. I very much prefer to hunt on Federal land in Wyoming than pay some Texan to hunt on his land. His hunting may well be better, but I enjoy my freedom...what there is left of it.

And we of course, have our Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid. We are always looking for and voting on better ways to do things without big government, but so far we have what we have.

Scandinavia countries may not like to pay their higher taxes, but they ain’t about to vote out their way of life. They always have that choice in democratic socialism. That ain’t failure.

Rand Paul has not moved the ball very far down field by rehashing the well known failures that evolve some dictator trying to use Socialism as a shortcut to total control. That is Communism.

what we have, in a sense, is/are the seasons of the year. it get's cold, hot, warm, cool, etc. and then repeat any number of times in progression.

all i'm saying is that we in the us have really enjoined a lot of socialistic ideas: social security, medicare/medicaid, state police, state roads, gov't schools.

and here we are. our Scandinavian friends don't appear to be on the edge of revolt over higher taxes, do they? they are allowing in others of foreign religious beliefs.

a serious subject indeed. but, how best to think about it? the russian oligarths with mansions in south florida pay their taxes, and pay their hired help.

hunting: i love to hunt. grew up on a farm w/o deer until much later after the gov't re-introduced them.

lot's of pricey hunting here in the se usa. but one can hunt on gov't land, for a fee.

one way to think of it (& perhaps incorrectly??), is that there's 7.5 billion people assigned to some nearly 200 countries.

some countries allow their citizens more freedom than other countries choose to do so.

further assume there's X amount of freedom in the world. to be divided amongst the membership.

some citizens in some countries are getting more (or less?) of their fair share?
