I understand the enthusiasm . I have a JM stamped 45-70 XLR stainless 24" Bbl . Grey laminated stock. Owned for many years. My primary bullet of choice is my Lyman 330gr HP mold.. Cast from scrap wheel weights it comes out at 342grs. I drive it at about 1650 fps. Very accurate & effective to 150yds. After that it starts to drop a bit too much for longer shots. All loading done with RCBS Cowboy dies. Burris 4x compact scope in old style Weaver pivot mount so open sights are easily accessed. Have never shot a jacketed bullet thru it.
