John (the guy who was hoisting his elk into my truck in the fourth pic above) was using a 300 Win. mag Thursday. The bullet went through the right shoulder, the bottom of the heart and destroyed the left shoulder. He lost the meat from that shoulder. He should have had a 308 99EG like me. My bullet went through the ribs, destroyed the lungs and stayed in the elk. Of course they were only 150 yds. away. If they'd been 400 I wouldn't have shot.
