Mom had no "servants".
Holy crap, if we had lived in that kind of society, we would have
all been servants.
No we all just worked.
She is 80, and wouldn't hear of a stranger going through her house.
I knew one family that might have had a maid.
An older woman whose husband used to beat the hell out of
her. Darn near killed her one night. My Aunt and Uncle took
her in, she lived with them for a long time. Worked for them,
In return for them taking care of her.
