The contemporary of Garand was Samozaryadnaya Vintovka Tokareva. It was not particularly wide spread in use because it required good maintenance regimen for reliability so it was issued to elite/disciplined units. Today, good sample on American market will bring over $1000.

You see very few of those SVTs here in Canada and most are expensive.
