I’ve had several “favorite” elk rifles over the years including a .308 M700, a .35 Whelen M700 Classic, but the current Champeen is a .300 Weatherby Mark V Fibermark with a Kahles Helia C 2.5-10x50 shooting 168 gr TTSX handloads. Usual recent backup is a 7mm Weatherby similarly dressed but with a Leica Visus 2.5-10x42. The reason the .300 Roy is the top dog is that it has produced bang-flops on everything I have shot at.
