Barry, I started taking Millie with me when she was just a few months old when I'd go squirrel hunting. She really picked up on what we were doing, and usually spots them before I do.
I had a dog years ago that loved to go squirrel hunting with me. She didn't tree them but she'd sit quetly and patiently next to me looking up into the tree tops. When I'd shoot a squirrel she'd go find it, bring it back to me and sit back down next to me waiting for the next one.
