I also have astigmatism, but pretty minor I think. RDS look like small star. Still very usable for me. I have a variety of LPVOs and a couple RDS at the moment. No fixed prism experience. I reach for LPVOs or traditional (A1) carry handle irons nearly every time. I'd say get a good LPVO and be set for the all reasonable uses of 5.56 with a good mix of precision and speed. RDS with a magnifer is nothing but compromises with no upside in my opinion
