I have known 2 successful professional gamblers in my 50 years of living in LV. Both were very bright w/ phenomenal memories and only gambled at what they considered skill games, mainly poker and gin. They considered it a job and made enough to support their passions and only worked 6 months of the year. They despised the environment and most of the people they played against. A successful gambler needs a good tax accountant and a secure system for dealing w/ large amounts of cash. Many of the high$ games are done w/ a broker and no cash is involved at the game to decrease the risk of robbery. Las Vegas attracts predators like blood attracts sharks.

I have never known a dealer who liked their job.

YMMV

Stab them in the taint, you can't put a tourniquet on that.
