Tracey, I hope you get the hell out of that concrete schithole soon. While I do live in a suburban environment, I'm surrounded by nature. Ex: huge lake right across the street and 5 more within 1/4 mi of my house. Canals full of fish. Birds everywhere. Huge iguanas. There is plenty of stuff to kill and eat, if you know where to look and how to do it quietly. It would take a while to kill me via starvation. They'd have to come at me in other ways.
