In the early 1980's the police brought my 74 year old grandmother home at 2 in the morning.she had gotten up,got dressed, and walked down to the bus stop.Cop drove by,saw her standing there and brought her home. She said she was going to Macy's.Cop couldn t have been nicer. My grandmother slowly got worse until we finally had to put her in a home, she lived in the world of the late 1930's,only my grandfather knew the people she was talking about (all long dead by then).I was the last person she recognized, one day she told me,"i' m sorry,i forgot your name ,but i know your my grandson".
Dementia is a terrible thing,it was heartbreaking to watch, took its toll on everyone.I feel for any family that has to deal with it.
