Funny you should mention that. Growing up there was always a block of lard in the refrigerator.
Never knew there was any other way to cook meat (steak, hamburger, pork chops) than frying it in lard in a cast iron pan until I was 13 or 14 years old. My grandmother was Slovak and she used a lot of lard for cooking, delicious.
