A few weeks ago at the local flea market/swap meet a guy walked in with a M/629 4" P & R, after the gun flippers all had an opportunity to try and buy it I approached the owner. The flippers all had tried to get him to come off his price but the was firm, I talked with him for a while before making an offer. After a little negotiation we made a deal, the gun is a first year of manufacture and had been Magnaported. It wore Pachmyers which I like for shooting heavier loads but absolutely abhor appearance wise. I found a nice set of Goncalo Alves factory grips for it which significantly improved the gun's appearance. I had owned a P & R 4" 629 in the past and had foolishly let it go, I didn't hesitate when this on presented itself. A review of internet auction results showed that the same S & W had been selling for $300.-- $500. more than I paid, no wonder the owner refused to let it go to the flippers.
