Same as Pa...the Bow hunters started out with we deserve a special season because a traditional recurve is so difficult. And they had a point. Then the progression of bow development kept getting better...then the compound...and now the crossbow.. The difficulty factor kept getting easier, but the season stayed the same and in fact became progressively longer.

The Pa GC published an article that said 32% of the total kill was during the long archery seasons, ...Well the original short bow season with a more difficult weapon has blossomed into a 2 month season with easier weapons and the the rifle hunters keep getting a smaller piece of the pie as the percentage of archery kills keeps growing.

And 60% of the total archery kill is done with crossbows. Wonder why the traditional recurve that the bow hunters originally started with has become a thing of the past...It shouldn't take too long to figure it out.

Of course the GC loves the Bow hunter...Why? The silent killers cause much less issues than the booming rifles going off for two weeks...

Have a Bud who went out and bought a crossbow...shoots it once a year to verify, and as of now has killed three. Naw it isn't easier...
