I know a lot of their own members don't approve of the way it's run and I can't understand some of the stuff they do and some of the people they endorse. It's not just the UAW either; a lot of our unions seem to be run by commie socialists. WTF?

Labor unions are the basis of the Marxist System.

The former USSR was the United Socialist Soviet Republic. A Soviet is a Labor Union, which is the most basic political subdivision in the "Soviet" system, and hence why it's in the name.

AS, you might want to double check what USSR actually denotes. Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, and a soviet has different meanings in Russian history.
