You can get steel shot wads that are very thick to protect the bore, at ballistic products. I’ve used them in quite a few loads. Can get them unslitted so you can cut them as needed.
Have used them in Turkey loads for my 16/9.3 hammer drilling and killed a lot of turkeys.
