Well, not quite. I had a 9.3x74R for awhile in a double rifle, a dainty one at that, a model that is now the Chapuis IPHISI.

Even the 375R is a step down from the H&H pressure-wise, and this 9.3 is a little step down from that. I found it a very pleasant mid-bore cartridge and easily took a bison heifer with it, running at about 75 yds. Talk about a cartridge in stark contrast to the short ‘n fats..

My thought was that it would be neat to try on elk in the timber, but I didn’t get to that. But to the point, it provides a fairly heavy bullet, say 274 grs. at just under 2400 fps, not to be shunned by any means, but not at all punishing to the shooter.

Another gun I would like to have kept.
