At about 15-16, I borrowed my Grandfather's Winchester Model 94 30-30 a few times. Never saw a deer, as they were almost non-existent around here back then. Not sure I ever even shot that rifle.

Fast forward 20 years. At about 35 years old a friend needed some money and I bought a Glenfield 30-30, the first deer rifle I ever bought for myself. Don't remember if I ever shot that one either.

About a year or so later I got invited on a deer hunt where I would be hunting over large green fields and a 30-30 didn't seem to be the best option. I bought a Rem 710 in 30-06 and killed my first deer at age 36.

The 94 now belongs to a cousin, both the other two have long ago been sold or traded off. Got rid of the 710 when I won a Ruger M77 MarkII in 280Rem in a raffle. That was the rifle that got me into shooting and collecting, looneyism if you will.

Those who must raise their voice to get their point across are generally not intelligent enough to do so in any other way.
